MEANINGful Monday: Burl

Burl:
An abnormal growth on a tree commonly found in the form of a rounded outgrowth on a tree trunk or branch that is filled with small knots from dormant buds. Burls yield a very decorative and highly grained wood, and are valued by artisans for their beauty and rarity. Also known as burs, or burrs, in the UK. {1970's Milo Baughman burled olivewood, marble & chrome buffet}
